Service Projects

Serving and Faith go hand in hand...

Teaching our children the importance of giving  our time to serve others and our community is a crucial component of our Sunday School here at Messiah. Our High School class volunteers approximately once a month in a variety of community projects.  In the past year, our youth group participated in a Famine Weekend to help raise awareness about ending poverty and injustice, participated in CityServe, among many other things.

Messiah Lutheran Church holds Sunday school classes every Sunday during the Spring, Winter and Fall at 9:45am. This is between our early morning service and our 11:00am service.  Our classes are staffed by dedicated volunteers. The curriculum is Bible based  and enriched with age appropriate activities. Our children are actively involved in our worship services and share the joys of youthful celebrations in songs and pageants year round.

The first day will be 9/24 this year.

Our adult study class just finished a session on Spiritual Gifts. We meet on Sunday mornings at 9:45 am in the Spring, Fall, and Winter. We have studied many topics in the past, from Genesis to Revelation and from Ancient Christian history to modern thinking about faith and Christian living. See you there!

First communion at Messiah traditionally takes place when a child is in 5th grade. After 3 classes with the pastor we hold first communion on Maundy Thursday.

Children younger than 5th grade receive a blessing at the altar from the pastor.
